Life's Journey

Going through the Purpose Driven Life series during our Young Adult Cell Group on Saturdays seem to be getting more interesting. We are all starting to speak our minds and debate and exchange ideas and opinions.

It took us at least one year before everyone is comfortable to do so.

We meet up every fortnightly, on Saturdays. There are usually about at least 8 of us who go really regularly. I guess after a while, we try our best to make it. We tried to do it every Saturday, but even yours truly couldn't make it every week. So they reverted back to once every two weeks.

I shall be covering the next session. That's on the 3rd May. Day 6, if I'm not mistaken. It's about the life now is only a 'temporary assignment'.

---------------

If something is temporary, would you treasure it more or less?

two views of it:

First, you see it as temporary, so you don't quite bother about what there is here. You can't be bothered about how life moves.

You can't be bothered about environmentalism, about politics, about the future of Earth, about conservation of greens, the extinction of animals or even the type of jobs you get. All because this time is temporary and you don't see a need to bother yourself with 'mundane' things such as those mentioned.

Secondly, you see it as temporary, hence you make full use of the short short time you have here to make a difference, and so, you go all out to accomplish as much as humanly possible.

Two extreme reactions, but both are possible.

------------
The discussion question posed at the end of the chapter asks:

"How should the fact that life on earth is a temporary assignment change the way I am living right now?"

To rephrase it:

"If you have only one more month to live, how would you live it?"

...

...

Most will be thinking about how to enjoy it to the maximum.

"Live life as though tomorrow is your last"?

Has that become what we make of life? Is food and drinks and making merry (aka partying) been labeled as the best way to have fun and enjoying life? Or is that the result of advertisements and commercials?

What is it that brings joy and contentment to us? Our perspective would change if we knew what made us happy.

-------------

There are many subsequent questions I can continue to ask and probe. But at the end of it all,

"What are you living this life for?"
