just watched it at gv. it's not out yet in m'sia. should be due to censorship issues.

I'm not gonna discuss the contents of the movie. but it's worth watching. if you can catch it in s'pore, do so.

the show makes me laugh and cry both at the same time. i laugh at the simple jokes that come so naturally to the lips of some and i cry at the directness of hurts and pain every person feels.

it gives a new light to many things. a new light to the lives of people we do not know, we do not see.

to me, it reminds me of when i was working in kl. when i studied there. when i saw the lives of people who lived so differently than me. even in college, you do not see all these, because people in college are still rather well to do. but when i went to work, it involved all levels of people. all races and all personalities.

i met people who lived in housing that we call chalets. i met friends whose pay is less than me, but supporting a family when i consider that only just enough.

the lives are one side of the story. the lifestyle and the mannerism is the other.

the jokes within the movie helped me remeber the light-hearted conversations that we used to have. kinda brainless, but still entertaining and warm. jokes about language - the orange skin joke. Jokes about simple analogies - the perfect man, in a testtube. jokes from a simple experience. witty jokes that is lacking for me now.

i get jokes, a little more sophisticated. now it's mainly pun on words. twist of words. funny too - it becomes a mind game.

i thank god for allowing me to see more into the various types of people. to be able to communicate with them all without any problem.

I had someone (cina feller) comment about bargaining:

If you had two shops selling the same thing, and one was by a Chinese owner and the other an Malay owner, which shop would you go to? She said she'd go to the chinese shop, cos bargaining would be easier in your own language. and the shopkeeper would also make it easier for you.

It might make a difference, but it's such a racialist statement.

i would not be afraid if i were in an environment full of non-chinese. all i have to do is to get to know them and try to blend in.

life is already confusing enough without us making it worse. every race has their own culture and every person their own character. generalise them and you're racist.

that's just the way life is.
