Reflections:
Good Friday - the day that Christ died on the cross.
By this time it was noon, and darkness fell across the whole land until three o'clock. The light from the sun was gone. And suddenly, the thick veil hanging in the Temple was torn apart. Then Jesus shouted, "Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!" And with those words he breathed his last. (Luke 23:44-46)
A death meant for the sins of the whole world. A death that indicated a sacrifice so great that we would never have to suffer the penalty of sin.
Someone who died not only for the people in the past, but for the present and the future.
How is it possible for a single death to cover such a multitude of people? How is it that the blood of Jesus sacrificed can cleanse billions and trillions of people since the beginning of time?
It just blows the mind away. Not in awe, but in disbelief and irrationality.
There are many things that science have never been able to explain. With such unexplained situations, we have philosophers and theoretical science to explain the unexplainable.
Rationalise the whole event. To make sense and squeeze all that "forgiveness-of-sins-by-dying-on-the-cross-for-the-whole-world" into our little tiny puny brains.
That's rationalising. Making it logical.
As great as the mind is, we would never be able to swallow such an event.
How then does so many people in the world say that they are Christians? The crux of Christian's belief is the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
By simply believing.
It starts with believing. You can analyse the whole crucifixion later. But first - BELIEVE.
If you don't believe in something, you will never even start analysing or finding out more about it.
Doubt is the reluctance to believe.
But if you doubt something in the first place, there must be a thought or thing or object for you to doubt. Hence, everyone wants proof.
How do we find proof and evidence that with the dying of Jesus on the cross, all of us do not need to go to hell?
**my mind is moving so much now that i really don't think i can explain it all here**
Try reading CS Lewis' books on Christianity. That's a person with a great mind.
I have never been able to explain to people the details of 'why'. I always end up being defensive and argumentative. But deep down, I know that it is true and for me, that is enough.
Someone tell me how to tell...
